As high school sweethearts, we chose to marry on the weekend that marked fourteen years together. Planning for our wedding allowed us to reflect on who we are as a couple, our experiences over the years and how to best capture our love on our wedding day. We kept some things to tradition, and were unique with others.
Our wedding day truly reflected who we are as a couple. The day was filled with romance and laughter. Our family priest made our ceremony memorable by a surprise reading our versions of “what love is” (taken from our home work exercises), his unique personal style brought a relaxed and personal atmosphere to the small chapel which was filled with the love and laughter of our family and friends. The ceremony was a highlight of our day. We couldn’t take our eyes off each other, unless we were closing them to laugh or to look at our nieces and nephews who were sat on the floor around our feet.
It was so wonderful to see how the day we planned unfolded into something more magical than we could have imagined. Even the weather came to the party with just enough overcast clouds to enhance our photos.
When looking for a reception venue, we knew we wanted an intimate venue with its own ambiance. Our plan at the reception, whilst unusual, was to keep our guests moving from one room to another to provide all our guests to an opportunity to celebrate with others. As the night went on, we loved the opportunity to speak (and dance) with everyone and notice how privileged we felt to be surrounded by all the people we love in our lives that were there to celebrate our marriage.
When it came to photography, it was never a choice; we knew Toni’s work would provide us with romantic and fun photos. Every beautiful moment and emotion was captured. Toni was invaluable in not only capturing our day, but in being part of our special day. Toni managed to turn any anxious moment into one of laughter.
Our wedding day was perfect, everything we had dreamed and planned for, and more. But what day isn’t when you are marrying your best friend, lover and soul mate.
