My wedding day was something that I had dreamt of forever. So when it finally arrived it felt extremely surreal. I could not believe that all the planning was complete and in 24 hours the day would be over.
After getting engaged to my now husband we started planning the wedding almost straight away. I had a lot of help from my mother who is quite a pro by now having helped plan both my two brothers’ weddings. Any idea that I had I would run past my Mum and she would tell me straight up if it was too extreme or if it was an achievable idea. I think the thing that made it run so smoothly in planning was taking the time and not having a short engagement and also having huge amounts of support and help from my mum and dad. My husband also had quite a lot of input which was nice and made me feel like he was as excited as I was about the day.
On my actual wedding day the best advice I got was from one of my bridesmaids that said “don’t worry if things go wrong and not to plan you will only remember the special moments”. It did rain on the day, but at the most important time of when I had to walk down the aisle it stopped raining. Also having so much fun in the morning getting ready with my Mum and girlfriends made me so much more relaxed.
Having done my research and meeting all the people that I dealt with on the day I felt like I could be myself while getting ready and had a lot more fun that way. My wedding is a day I will always remember. It was perfect in my eyes and I would not change a thing.
