I don’t know how it always works out this way, but somehow I continually manage to avoid wet weather. The weeks preceeding Jason & Fiona’s wedding were two of the biggest wet weekends we’ve seen in recent times, and I scored both weekends off. By the time this wedding rolled around, we were met with the most perfect overcast Brisbane day. Like it was just planned that way.
This was another awesome wedding, with an emphasis on being low-key, laid back, and a stress free celebration. Jason & Fiona opted to see eachother before the wedding, so they could enjoy a later ceremony and more time spent with their guests.
We arrived at the Stamford to find Fiona and her entourage in the more than capable hands of Melissa Donaldson & Ema on hair and makeup. Fiona had 6 flowergirls/junior bridesmaids on hand, which made for a very busy afternoon!
We met with with Jason outside the Stamford for some photos with his beloved Mustang convertible. The car is Jason’s pride and joy, and we couldn’t NOT have it featured proudly in his photos. We then got the boys into the Stamford so they could meet up with the girls, and Jason could see his bride for the first time. We then took a quick turn around the gardens and surrounding areas before returning to send Jason out the back of the Stamford to greet their guests.
The ceremony was conducted by the always delightful Anne Campbell, with Jason’s daughters playing their own special roles, to add a personal touch. It was smiles, hugs and kisses all round as Jason & Fiona mingled with their guests, before moving inside to begin the celebrations!
Jason & Fiona, this really was MY kind of afternoon. Feeling like you’re just hanging out and having fun, not actually working. Poo and I really enjoyed being a part of your day - and for people who don’t claim to be that great in front of the camera, I think you rocked it. xxx
I met Teresa late last year at the wedding of her cousin Melissa. She grabbed me as I walked past her table at the reception, we chatted a bit about her wedding, and I told her to give me a call. So she did!
Darren & Teresa had planned a small intimate wedding, and wanted a no mess-no fuss kind of day. With any couple planning this kind of day, I will thoroughly recommend doing your wedding photos BEFORE the ceremony. Yeah it’s a little non-traditional, and you have to deal with people saying “*insert audible gasp* You saw each other BEFORE the wedding???”, but as far as making the day flow much smoother, you can’t beat it. You get all the photos done and out of the way, have a delightful sunset ceremony, and roll straight into drinks and canapes with your guests. No disappearing for 2 hours and making everyone stand around awaiting your return. It’s not for everyone, but personally, I’m a big fan!
Teresa got ready at The Emporium, which is always a delightful place to shoot. Teresa & Darren both have a daughter each, McKenzie & Trinity, and they were both helping Teresa get ready, and were extremely excited to be a part of the day. It was then time to get downstairs to an awaiting Darren, who saw his bride for the first time.
We headed over to the Powerhouse to get some photos of the happy couple. Both Darren & Teresa don’t seem big fans of being in front of the camera, but once you got them relaxed they really began to shine, althought I think they may have been relieved when it was time to head up to the Rooftop Terrace! Darren & Teresa were married in front of family and friends, and then after some very quick family photos, they were out mingling with their guests, enjoying the Brisbane Powerhouse hospitality!
Yes. This is new. Just thought I’d start posting special advanced screenings of some upcoming wedding shoots I have to share. This is from Jason & Fiona’s wedding at the Stamford Plaza on March 12.
I went over to see Courtney & Lily on Friday, to mark Lily turning 8 weeks old. I brought a camera with me this time, to get some casual photos to add to Lily’s first year album.
Apparently, this is Lily in a cranky mood. Who’d of thought? I think she still looks pretty damn cute. But still not enough to make me want one of my own. We all know how I feel about that!
Lily looks as though she’s about to throw a punch at me…
Very recently, Poo fulfilled a little dream he’d had of getting himself a Peugeot. I made a throw-away comment that he should get “Poo” on his number plates. His little face lit up like it was Christmas, and after a few simple keystrokes he’d joined the ranks of the rest of the pretentious wankers (myself included), with his own set of personalised number plates.
Keep an eye out for “The Poo” as you’re driving around - and feel free to give my Daddy-Poo a wave. Unless my mother is driving. Then just give her a wide berth.
If I gave out awards for cuteness, Jessica would definitely be a recipient! From the moment I walked in the door, until the moment I left for the evening, she was the sweetest, cutest, most obliging bride you could ever ask for. There was no stopping Jess grinning from ear to ear all day long. Even the bridesmaids were so excited about spending the day with Jess, and seeing her and Josh get married. At the risk of sounding corny, it was one of those days where you really felt the love surrounding this young couple in love.
Josh had everything under control over at Nexus Church at Everton Park. The staging and lighting was all looking awesome, it just needed a bride to get the show underway. Jess arrived courtesy of Ken from Kenz Classic and made her way to see her groom grinning widely at the end of the aisle. After enjoying afternoon tea and refreshments, it was time to head over to UQ for an afternoon of fun and photos.
We had such a fun afternoon knocking around the Great Hall, as always with a big bridal party it makes for some amusing hijinks. Everyone pulled together to make it an awesome afternoon! Before too long, it was time for the short trip over to Hillstone St Lucia for the reception!
Slideshow time….
A shot with the happy couple (and Jess still happy as larry!!)…
Along with previous bride Kirsty who I can not only thank for an awesome coffee mug, but also referring Josh & Jess!…
As February rolled around, so did the run of wet weather. Over the years I’ve gotten fairly good at being able to wake up in the morning and “read” the clouds. I can usually tell if a) that won’t give us any trouble, b) we’re in trouble, and c) you know what, it could go either way. My feeling on the morning of Paul & Branka’s wedding was it could go either way. The morning started out completely miserable, but somewhere behind those clouds I knew there was some blue sky just busting to get through.
We kicked off the morning at Paul’s house where the persistant showers was making things interesting, but spirits were still high. Once the band arrived, I think the rain was forgotten, and the singing and dancing began.
By the time we arrived at Branka’s, the worrying thoughts of the rain were far behind us. The team from Beautiful Images By Toula had already been and gone, and had made the girls look spectacular! After some photos with Branka, the boys arrived to begin the traditional process of bargaining for Branka’s hand in marriage. Branka then emerged and was escorted to the awaiting car to be whisked away to the ceremony.
After the ceremony at the Serbian Orthodox Church at Woolloongabba, we then headed into the city to enjoy some time at Parliament House, as well as then getting on over to Captain Burke Park for some photos, still managing to dodge the rain all afternoon. We could hardly believe our luck! It was then back over to The Greek Club right on time for the reception!
A big thank you goes out to the awesome Steve Thomas of ST Photography for coming out to second shoot with me, as Poo had been in hospital in the weeks before the wedding. Thanks Stevie!!
