Brad & Bridget

August 26th, 2006

What a spectacular day for Brad & Bridget! From the minute I met these two, I knew they’d be loads of fun to work with. Nothing phased them, they seemed so happy just to simply be there. They intentionally planned a casual, low-key affair, and I think they should own the term “simple elegance”. I loved Bridget’s dress, I’m so into “different” gowns these days, I think I should start my own movement!

It was the first time I’d been to the Broadway Chapel at Wooloongabba, and this place is SPECTACULAR. The Chapel was originally built in 1884, and in the past few years undertook major renovations and is now a non-denominational chapel available for hire for civil ceremonies. Its almost like the church service you have when you’re not having a church service!! Check it out at www.broadwaychapel.com

After some quick pictures at the Kangaroo Point cliffs, they all headed back to the Hotel Carindale for a reception, which I am sure raged on until the wee hours of the morning!

Kim’s Baby

August 20th, 2006

Friends of mine, Kim & Rohan, are expecting their first child any day now.

I’d asked Kim a while back if I could do some pregnancy photo’s, but she was a bit hesitant. Pregnancy photo’s are very big (pardon the pun) right now, but its a common misconception you have to get your gear off.

Once I convinced Kim that we can do this without her having to strip off, she jumped at the chance. And I’m so glad that she did. On average a woman is only going to be pregnant for 18 months out of her life, so why not document that part of the journey.

Regardless of how big or little they might be, every pregnant woman is beautiful, and Kim is a perfect example……

Nat’s Hens Night!!

August 19th, 2006

Usually I’m pretty tired after a hard day’s work photographing a wedding, but I couldn’t miss out on celebrating my good friend Natalie’s hens night. Nat and her hubby-to-be are finally tying the knot after nearly 20 years and two beautiful children together, in VEGAS baby! Sadly, a destination wedding I can’t attend

We headed into the city for a fantastic dinner at Jo Jo’s restaurant, before stepping out to various locations around Brissy for a night of fun and frivolity! As most people know, I tend to live like a hermit, so it was such a good opportunity to get out and have some fun, and celebrate a momentus occasion - without having to worry about pulling up to photograph a wedding the next day!!

Nat & Doug - I wish you all the best for next month, and can’t wait to celebrate with you (some more!) when you get back!

Greg & Lee-anne

August 19th, 2006

WOW! I think I’ve found my new favourite wedding destination. I never even knew that this wonderful gem existed. Clear Mountain, only 20km from Brisbane, and home of some of the most glorious 180 degree views imaginable.

The Quality Hotel at Clear Mountain (www.clearmtn.com.au) is perched on top of the mountain, and is a great venue for anyone looking for a “one stop shop” for their wedding. The bride and groom can get ready on-site, they have a great ceremony garden, and function facilities. And not to mention those views!!

Lee-anne was radiant in her Maggie Sottero gown, my favourite dress designer (www.maggiesottero.com). The highlight for me was when Greg shed a tear during the ceremony. Its always so touching when a groom gets emotional. We headed across the road from the hotel for the bridal party shoot, which gave the bridal party a chance to relax and unwind with a bottle of Moet.

Thanks for a really enjoyable day guys. Its never been so easy to do what I love!!

Robert & Sarah

August 12th, 2006

We had such a great day today hanging out with Rob and Sarah. From the moment we stepped into the hotel room, Sarah was so calm, and relaxed. Usually when I enter a bride’s house its bedlam! These guys were ready well and truly ahead of time, which is always a blessing for me!

The ceremony was held in the rose garden at Hillstone St Lucia (www.hillstonestlucia.com.au), and the weather was just perfect. It was a lovely spiritual ceremony, which proves that your faith truly is with you everywhere, not just in a church. The whole wedding had a very family feel about it, and you really felt a part of their day.

We headed off to UQ for some formal photo’s, and a bottle of bubbly. These guys really had a lot of fun with the shoot, and there’s a little trick I like to play on the bride and groom, that Rob and Sarah fell for BIG TIME!!!! It was such an enjoyable and relaxed day, and relaxed couples = great photo’s!!!

NSW Invasion

August 6th, 2006

My dear friend Brett was up from Sydney for the weekend with his daughter Ebony. When I was down in Sydney for an album planning session in March, I only had my point and shoot camera with me, and promised Brett the next time we caught up I’d bring the big guns!

We went to a local park where I wanted to get some natural portraits of the two of them just being together. Ebony started off a little wary of the camera (apparently VERY unusual for her!), but eventually she relaxed and really started to enjoy herself.

I love taking pictures for anyone, but especially my friends. These kind of memories are irreplaceable, and to play a part in capturing those moments in time is truly an honour.

Andrew & Fiona

August 5th, 2006

Today was an early morning for me, but I can only imagine how early it must have been for Fiona! Fiona & Andrew had a 10.30am wedding today, so it was all hands on deck reasonably early!

Whilst morning weddings are not common, I actually like the fact that there is plenty of light available to work with, and you’re not racing the sunset. Flip side is that its pretty hot in the middle of the day, but its a trade-off you have to make.

Location for our formal bridal party shoot was the Roma Street parklands, which is a great location for the diversity of its settings. For me, it rates right up there with Captain Burke Park under the Story Bridge.
