When I first met with Scott & Suzanna, there was no doubt in my mind we were a perfect match. Cheeky, with a wicked sense of humour, and never short of laughs, it was a wedding I couldn’t wait to be a part of. I always love when couples plan small, intimate affair, as you know the mood on the day will be full of love, laughter, and lots of celebration!

Scott & Suzi’s wedding took place up at Maleny. Suzi & the girls were so relaxed when they were getting ready. Completely laid back and ready to enjoy what the day would bring. Suzanna was an absolutely amazing bride, and looked nothing short of stunning. She also loves to laugh. And we wouldn’t really stop laughing. All. Day. Long!

The setting was the Little White Wedding Church where an emotional Scott & Suzi exchanged their vows in a delightful ceremony. There might have been a couple of tears, but those smiles were back the minute they stepped outside the chapel.

We then headed for some photos where we had an awesome afternoon. The bridal party were the funniest bunch of people I have seen in a long time. It was funny, naughty, and a million shades of hilarity all rolled into one. They rocked that hillside for the afternoon, before we took the party back to Maleny Reserve Restaurant.

Where these guys really rock, is that they treated their guests to a six course degustation dinner for their reception. I’ve become quite the fan of partaking in this kind of exquisite dining - and its definitely a very special way to celebrate your wedding!

Joe & Rachel. Seriously one of the most sweetest couples you could hope to meet. And adorable in every sense of the word.

Rachel and the girls got ready at the Stamford. Rachel was a little shy when the camera was first turned on her, but she soon warmed up in no time. I always help out as much as possible by showing my brides what I want them to do beforehand, and I think they figure if she can do it, then so can I! In any case, Rachel really showed me up, and took to being in front of the camera like a professional! The bridesmaids made the atmosphere fun, and kept Rachel giggling all afternoon.

The ceremony was held at Broadway Chapel, and was one of the most heartfelt, and uplifting services I’ve seen. From the tears welling in Joe’s eyes as Rachel walked down the aisle, to their personal vows to eachother, and the absolutely beautiful singing by Rachel’s girlfriends - it warmed your heart and reminded you that this was what marriage is all about.

From there we headed up to the Kangaroo Point cliffs, and then down to New Farm Park. The stormy conditions provided some awesome dramatic sky, and whilst it got dark early, we stayed out amongst it and had a lot of fun with such a cute couple. Once it was dark, we got back to Customs House for the reception. Joe & Rachel had us stay on to capture the reception, dancing, and to help clean out their candy bar. I was only too happy to oblige!!!

You hear a lot of brides and grooms say how they want their wedding to be “different”. I think these people need to take a leaf out of Rhys & Catherine’s book. They succeeded spectacularly in pulling off a one of a kind day that was anything but your average wedding.

Cat is quite a unique individual, and as such was destined to have a unique wedding. She decided on a Victorian era theme (specifically the early 1870’s) for their day. Cat left no stone unturned when it came to creating a day that reflected their personalities, but also remained historically correct. Cat and her bridesmaid handmade their own dresses, which is no mean feat, considering the scale of the design, and just how many layers there were in there!!

You can’t go having a Victorian themed wedding and then have it at your average modern wedding venue. The ceremony was held at historic Booval House in Ipswich which provided the perfect backdrop for the day. Rhys & Cat were married in the chapel on the grounds just after lunchtime, which then led into the afternoon tea reception on the lawn. It was a fabulous choice for a reception, as guests dined on decadent finger food and cakes, whilst enjoying champagne. At one point I looked up to see bridesmaid Donna waltzing across he lawn, and it truly felt that you were at a garden party 100 years ago.

Once the guests had departed, we had the grounds and the house to ourselves. I had told Rhys & Cat before the wedding that their choice of theme would change the way I would approach shooting their wedding. Obviously I still wanted to bring my style to their images, but it was also important that we were complimenting their theme and not have them doing something totally out of context for a bride or groom of that era. I loved every minute of it, because I love having something truly DIFFERENT to work with.

I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Rhys & Cat’s day, and thank you both for letting me experience something I may not get a chance to do again!

The last time I took individual portraits of Lily she was in a cranky mood. I caught up with her and Courtney again last month, and this time she was a lot happier. This is the main reason I don’t work with kids - they are just too unpredictable!! I get sent texts from Courtney all the time of Lilly smiling and laughing, but when I get there she’s a little more reserved, and it takes some time to bring out the happy little girl we all know.

Lily is growing up so so fast. She’s already 6 months old, and as you can see from those chubby little cheeks, she’s one very happy and healthy little girl.

I really enjoy designing albums, and I thoroughly enjoyed designing this one. Kylie has a background as a wedding photographer herself, so pretty much gave me free reign to design whatever I wanted.

I have chosen not to pre-design my albums, instead allowing the bride and groom to choose the images that go into the album themselves. I’m not pre-occupied with selling extra album sides after the wedding, and this way it allows my clients to control their costs accordingly. I do offer larger albums upfront as part of my packages (minimum 30 sides), and find it works better all round. But that’s just my opinion.

So when Kylie chose all of my favourite pictures and let me go wild, I had a lot of fun. Also this has been one of my favourite weddings this year, so it was kind of like reliving it all over again!!!

Anthony & Jo are a lovely couple who planned a very intimate gathering to celebrate their nuptials at Sirromet Winery earlier last month.

It could only be described as a perfect winters day for the ceremony by the Laguna. Anthony & Jo only invited their very closest friends and family, so there was a close-knit feel amongst the guests who were so happy to be there witnessing them tie the knot. After some kisses and cuddles we then set about getting the crazy kids out for some photos.

We spent an hour or so getting around the grounds of Sirromet in the limo, making the most of the time we had. The reception was held in the private dining room adjacent to the barrel hall, which was the perfect spot for dinner with their guests. Jo asked me to stay on as a guest, and I was honoured to share in their first meal.
